Why 2029?

IAC 2029 will take place at a defining moment for global space exploration.

It will coincide with the 60th anniversary of Apollo 11 and occur as the Artemis program returns humans to the Moon, opening the next era of lunar exploration.

The transition from the International Space Station to commercial space stations will also mark a new phase of international collaboration and public-private partnerships in orbit.

The United States last hosted IAC in Washington, D.C. in 2019 for the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11. Of the 76 Congresses held to date, only 12 have taken place in the Americas.

Why Houston?

  • Houston offers a unique convergence of heritage, innovation, and opportunity.
  • Alongside NASA’s Johnson Space Center Houston is home to emerging infrastructure including: Exploration Park near Johnson Space Center, Houston Spaceport at Ellington Airport, and Texas A&M Space Institute.
  • These initiatives are strengthening collaboration among industry, academia, and government, while accelerating innovation in human spaceflight, lunar exploration, and next-generation space technologies.
  • IAC 2029 Houston is expected to welcome 13,000 attendees from more than 80 countries and receive over 5,000 technical paper submissions, with participation from across the Americas.
