    • Space agencies and space offices

  • Strengthening partnerships among governments, industry, academia, and international organizations
  • Expanding participation from the 35 sovereign nations of the Americas

Building Space Capability Worldwide

Planetary Defense

As the United Nations International Year of Asteroid Awareness and Planetary Defence, 2029 presents a once-in-a-generation opportunity to elevate planetary defense on the global agenda.

IAC 2029 Houston will serve as a global platform for awareness, collaboration, and action through:

  • Recognition of the historic close approach of asteroid 99942 Apophis
  • International dialogue on asteroid science and near-Earth objects
  • Showcasing cooperation in asteroid detection, tracking, characterization, and mitigation
  • Dedicated technical sessions and public engagement activities

Inspiring the Artemis Generation

By 2029, humanity will be entering a new era of exploration, with astronauts living and working on and around the Moon as part of the Artemis program.

Hosting IAC 2029 in Space City™, home to NASA Johnson Space Center, Mission Control, the Artemis program, astronauts, and one of the world’s largest concentrations of space organizations, provides a unique opportunity to inspire who we call the Artemis Generation.

Through direct engagement with astronauts, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, and space leaders, students and young professionals will experience first-hand the technologies, careers, and international partnerships shaping humanity’s future in space.
